Mr. Louis Brailsford, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Louis Brailsford, Sr. was born on October 1, 1940 in Paxville, South Carolina to the late Horace J. Brailsford and Mary Robinson Brailsford. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Pruitt Health Care Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

He was educated in the Clarendon and Sumter Counties school systems. He graduated from Manchester High School.  At an early age he became a member of the Taw Caw Missionary Baptist church and dedicated his life to Christ. He worked diligently in the church and loved working as an Usher. He took great pride in being a door keeper.

Louis worked in Thomasville, North Carolina where he met his first wife Verlene Blanding Brailsford. They were blessed with one son, Lewis Brailsford, Jr., and a step son, Rickey Blanding. Louis later returned home and worked at Georgia Pacific where he met his second wife, Veteree Scott Brailsford. This union was blessed with two sons, Quaint Alexander and Joe Louis Brailsford.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Mae Lawson and Ella Ann Nelson and three brothers, Horace Brailsford, Adney Brailsford and Robert Brailsford.

Mr. Brailsford leaves a long list of offsprings to cherish his memories including Lewis (Letha) Brailsfod, Quaint Alexander (Latoya) Brailsford, Joe Louis (Joy) Brailsford, and additional offsprings, Thomasina McBride, Linda Pugh, Keith Riley and Michelle Riley; eleven grandchildren including one special granddaughter, Jordan Brailsford; one brother, Edward (Betty) Brailsford of Columbia, South Carolina; four sisters, Rev. Dorothy B. Boyd of Pinewood, South Carolina, Sarah Jane (David) Lawson, Pearl (Robert) Thomas all of Columbia, South Carolina, and Mary (Joseph) Scott of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters in law, Ada Mae (Isaac) Canty of Manning, South Carolina, and Justine (Chris) Richburg of Thomasville, North Carolina; three brothers in law, Richard (Brenda) Scott of Pinewood, South Carolina, Linen (Ella Jo) Scot and Matthew Scott all of Kingstree, South Carolina; special friend, Sis. Loretta Bookard of Orangeburg, South Carolina and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
