Mr. Henry “Bootlang” Allen was born on December 2, 1951, in Manning, SC, where he was raised in a Christian home by Ella Allen and the late William Allen Sr. Henry was hardworking, a devoted father to his children, and would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help.
Henry is preceded in death by his father, William Allen Sr., one son, Darius Gibson, brother William Allen Jr., and sister Edith Starks.
Henry graduated from Scott’s Branch High School in 1968. After graduating high school, he moved to White Plains, New York, where he worked for the National Cleaning Company for 10 years. He then proceeded to achieve his CDL and began to work full-time for the White Plains Sanitation Department beginning July 10, 1989, and in between, he worked for Alimo Car Rentals in White Plains, New York, as well. Henry then retired from the Department of Sanitation after 25 long years on May 29, 2015.
Henry was a faithful member of the Union Baptist Church of Greenburgh, N.Y.; he served on the usher board and served on the Food Ministry Team, where they picked up the homeless and served them hot meals faithfully every week.
Henry moved back home to Manning, SC, to enjoy his retirement and to be closer to his mother and siblings. He rejoined his home church, Friendship AME Church of Silver, where he served on the usher board and did janitorial services around the church.
Henry leaves to cherish his memories with his wife, Lizzie Bozier; mother Ella Allen of Manning, SC, and his son Kevin (Tomonda) Allen of Yonkers, NY. Two daughters, Tineka (Monteque) Allen of Summerton, SC, and Kayla Walston of Greenville, NC, Also, two bonus daughters, Sandy (Dock) Byrd of Scranton, PA, and Lora Bosier of Greenville, NC, Four sisters: Rosa Lewis of Fayetteville, NC; Ethel (Thomas) Mallard and Angelina (Dannie) Wicker all of Sumter, SC; and Mary Allen of Manning, SC. Four brothers: James Allen of Manning, SC; Tommy Lee (Burt) Allen of Norwalk, CT; Robert Lee (Pam) Smith of Sumter, SC; and Anthony (Subrenna) Smith of Summerton, SC. Two aunts, Eliza Neslon of Manning, SC, and Catherine (Elder Willie) Starks of Summerton, SC, Twelve Grandchildren. One great-grand, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
